About Mini Highland
The use of miniature cattle on small acreages offers numerous benefits. These animals are typically 1/2 or even 1/3 the size of standard cattle, which means they require less feed and land. It is recommended to maintain a ratio of one miniature cow per ½ to 1-acre grass, along with high-quality hay during the winter months.
Among the breeds suitable for this purpose is the Mini Scottish Highland, known for its hardiness in extreme temperatures. Adequate shade and water must be provided to ensure their well-being during hot summers and harsh winters. Their docile nature makes them ideal outdoor companions, show cattle, or sources of home-raised beef. With regular handling and training, these animals can become even more tranquil and easy to manage.
